Golf Nutrition 101: Teeing Off After Breakfast

French fries, cheeseburgers, candy bars: These are all treats readily available at club snack bars that tempt golfers looking for something quick to feast on prior to or in between rounds. Though delicious and temporarily satisfying, this junk food, which is astronomically high in saturated fat and moisture-sucking sodium, can leave you feeling lethargic and ready to call it quits before you even make the turn to the back nine. Developing your form and maintaining a steady golf fitness training routine are both important facets to a golfer’s game, but keeping up with a nutritious, pre-round diet is an equally influential aspect of golf fitness and the key to playing better golf.

Golf fitness starts long before the spikes go on and the FIT for Golf Training Ball comes out for your warm up. A healthy meal high in protein should be an integral part of your golf fitness workouts. 18 holes on a golf course makes for a long day, so it’s important to provide your body with the proper fuel to make it from the first swing to the final putt.

Hydration is also key when it comes to making the rounds at the golf course, as well as when you’re establishing a steady golf fitness routine. According to nutritional articles compiled by the Titleist Performance Institute, golfers lose nearly two liters of water over the course of a full round of golf. Make sure to pack a bottle of water (or two!) along with your FIT for Golf Training Ball, as healthy eating and proper hydration go hand in hand with golf fitness training.

"FIT for Golf has made golf fitness fast and simple. Finally, there is a training aid that focuses on all 3 physical components of the golf swing: Strength, Flexibility & Balance. I recommend it to all my students to eliminate physical restrictions that prevent them from achieving proper positions in their golf swing. It's also been a tremendous help in my own game. As of lately, I use the Training Ball in the morning as a warm-up tool before I even make a single swing in order to loosen up my joints and warm up my muscles. That way I can start my round ready to play."
